Peña de Horeb is Busier than Ever

After some rough years and difficult effects of COVID, the camp at Peña de Horeb in Spain is back in action and finally running at full capacity again. In addition to the busy schedule, volunteers from the region and across the globe have been making the trip to the little town just north of Madrid to breathe fresh life into the campgrounds itself. Simply keeping the facilities running with a full camp schedule is more than a full-time job, so the extra help from people like you has made all the difference.

“It’s such a great facility,” explained Glyn Johnston, missionary to Hungary who has made multiple trips to the camp to aid in much-needed renovation and beautification projects. “The grounds are beautiful, it’s right next to the river and the pool! But it’s been a rough go for a few years and it just needs some dedicated time and care to get it running even better than before.”

In addition to missionaries across the region stepping in to lend a helping hand both in the kitchen and on the grounds, work teams from across the globe have also stepped up to revitalize the desert gem.

In July 2022, a large group from Greenwood, Indiana flew over to spend a week working in the record 104-degree heat to assist with various cleaning and maintenance projects and serve in the kitchen during a weekend camp.

The camp continues to need volunteers, especially people with experience in handiwork and landscaping, so check back here for more opportunities to help in the future!
