Bicycle Project
Catania, Italy
In Catania, Italy our team works in partnership with Search Party to provide bikes to refugees and locals alike, meeting both their physical and spiritual needs through the project. Bikes are a major form of transportation in the city and are especially essential for many refugees who cannot afford the cost and upkeep of a car.
The bike shop runs completely free of charge providing several services.
Donated bikes are fixed and given to those who need them.
Bikes are repaired for free or for a donation for those who can't afford to pay.
People are trained to fix their own bikes, providing them with useful skills.
But the project really isn't about the bikes. The main goal of the bike shop is to meet people in the community to share the Gospel. They also teach and disciple those being trained and hold Bible studies, discipleship training, and even a home church within the bike shop facility.
In this way the shop becomes part of the community, reaching those in the city with the Gospel and making disciples and simple churches that reproduce.
